Abstract |
From back of photo: The urge to win the war and a shared interest in prize fighting bring these two soldiers together on the parade ground in Nebraska. The Major is D.K. Scruby, Infantry, Commanding Officer of Fort Omaha, and the Sergeant is Joe Louis Barrow, better know as Joe Louis, Champion boxer of the world. Major Scruby, officers and men of Fort Omaha were hosts to SGT Louis and other officers and men from Fort Tiley, Kansas, who were there for the football game between the Fort Riley team and Creighton University. |
