Coach lamp, Ohio model. Made of tin, printed black. Body 4" x 4" square lined inside with brass plates with reflectors on door and back. Two remaining glass sides of 3 3/4" x 3 3/4" beveled glass. The candle cap is also brass. The stem is a circular shape, 4 7/8" in circumference. The tip has a small hole in the bottom. Upper head is a 3" x 3" square with beveled edge. Lower head is a 4" x 4" top and 8" at the bottom. Door is fastened with a hinged latch. On left side of door is a 1" x1 1/4" hook fastened to outside of body for the surface of attaching lamp to carriage body. Hook is secured with a wing nut. In a candle type lamp a limp spring is used. This is a coiled wire spring, encased in muslin and placed inside the lamp canal for the purpose of keeping the candle up to the top of the cylinder until it is consumed.
