A welt 5/8" wide is sewn between edges of pad where they are joined and a wood strip 21" x 1 7/8" x 3/4" is fastened to pads with leather sockets. Metal springs are bolted on each neck yolk. Six clips are bolted to each of the springs which hold ammunition boxes in place. Each clip has a strap riveted to it which passes over the box.
