The insignia consists of the distinctive shield, flanked on sides and bottom by curved, ribboned border. The shield is stamped with the image of a sword rising from a sphere to touch an eight pointed star. The sword is in gold toned pot metal. Sphere nestles into the base of the shield, displays 1/3 of its surface. Gold tone lines define grid coordinates and the resulting spaces are painted green. Eight gold tone dots and the large star occupy the upper half of the shield which is painted black. The star has four large points interspersed with four smaller points. The interior of the star is painted white. The shield is covered with clear acrylic. A pear shaped, brass clutch back fastener is attached (possibly glued) to the back of the insignia.
