82.4.25 Medal, obverse is four-armed Maltese cross, each arm yellow enamel with green enamel border and delineated with gilded metal. Between arms of cross on right are two sprays of oak leaves; on left are two sprays of laurel. Cross center is disc of gilded metal with blue enamel finish with inscription around perimeter and five stars at center. Planchet obverse is of gilded metal bears inscription at center (date is that of Brazil's declaration of war on the Axis powers). Hook at medal top reverse provides ribbon attachment. Ribbon is of yellow silk, bordered green, and is affixed to uniform by means of parallel steel pins. 82.4.25A: Presentation issue box is rectangular, constructed of wood, covered with mottled green painted cloth. Lid bears arms of Brazil and inscription in gold paint. Box is lined with ivory and blue silk (or similar synthetic) and has brass hinges and lid closure.
