Surveying chain made of iron wire links and oblong brass handles at either end. Attached next to each of the brass handles are two smaller iron wires (2.75" and 3.25" respectively). The rest of the iron wire links are 7.25" in length. There are 48 of these. Each of the iron wire links has bent and rounded ends which form a loop. Each of the links are attached to one another by a single bent wire loop (16) or by a double wire loop (29). Attached at one end of the tenth link is a small brass arrowhead-shaped tally. The makers mark is machined into the top outside portion one of the handles.
